Burj Khalifa — At the Top. The world's tallest building at 828 metres pierces the Dubai skyline and offers observation decks on the 124th/125th and 148th floors. At sunset the city-to-desert panorama is unmatched, and pre-booking online is strongly recommended to avoid long queues.
Dubai Fountain. The world's largest choreographed fountain erupts in music, light, and water jets up to 150 metres high on Burj Khalifa Lake every 30 minutes from 6 pm. Watching from the promenade is free; a traditional abra boardwalk ticket places you just nine metres from the nozzles.
Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood (Old Dubai). Dubai's best-preserved 19th-century merchant quarter stretches 300 metres along the creek, its coral-stone wind-tower houses now sheltering galleries, museums, and the Dubai Museum inside the 1787 Al Fahidi Fort. Narrow shaded lanes make it the coolest — and most photogenic — walk in the city.
Dubai Creek Abra Crossing. For just one dirham, a traditional wooden abra ferries you across Dubai Creek between the souks of Deira and Bur Dubai — the same crossing traders have made for over a century. The five-minute ride is one of the most authentic and inexpensive experiences in the Gulf.
Gold Souk & Spice Souk, Deira. Over 380 jewellers glitter beneath the Gold Souk's wooden roof in one of the world's great jewellery markets, while a short walk away the Spice Souk perfumes the air with saffron, frankincense, and sumac. Bargaining is expected and part of the experience.
Museum of the Future. Opened in 2022, this iconic torus-shaped building clad in Arabic calligraphy is rated among the world's most beautiful buildings and houses immersive exhibits exploring space, bioengineering, AI, and health. A 2–3 hour visit leaves most visitors genuinely inspired.
Desert Safari (Lahbab Desert). An evening desert safari is a rite of passage: professional drivers take guests dune-bashing in 4x4s across the red sands of the Lahbab Desert, followed by sandboarding, a camel ride, and a tented camp dinner with live oud music and henna. Most tours depart late afternoon and return around 10 pm.
Dubai Frame. A 150-metre-tall picture frame spanning the boundary between old and new Dubai, with a glass-floor sky bridge at the top giving you vertigo-inducing views of the historic skyline on one side and the glittering modern cityscape on the other.
